“The countdown has begun for the end of the Netanyahu era and his government”assures Ofer Bronchtein, president of the International Forum for Peace and mission manager by Emmanuel Macron for Israeli-Palestinian rapprochement, guest on franceinfo.

He hopes that public opinion will play an increasingly important role. “During the first three months of this war the Israelis were paralyzed, traumatized by the catastrophe of October 7”, he emphasizes. But in recent weeks, “we see the resumption of demonstrations, thousands of Israelis taking to the streets to demand the release of their hostages, that this be the priority and not the elimination of Hamas”. Ofer Bronchstein also talks about demonstrations “so that there are elections as quickly as possible and change this government.”

The president of the International Peace Forum also advances a radical political change necessary for the Palestinians. “Mahmoud Abbas is 88 years old,” he specifies. “It will take a new generation of Palestinian leaders”, “There needs to be a change in leadership for Israelis and Palestinians for things to happen”.
