For every movie ticket purchased for The Count of Monte Cristo During the day of Wednesday, August 28, one euro will be donated to the NGO Libraries Without Borders, which works for access to culture, announced the distributor, producer and directors of the film in a press release published on Monday, August 26.
The adaptation of the work of Alexandre Dumas, directed by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière with Pierre Niney in the main role, has accumulated nearly seven million admissions. since its release in theaters on June 28. “The public’s reception of the film is a great joy, but it obliges us,” commented producer Dimitri Rassam.
The date chosen for this operation, August 28, corresponds to the 180th anniversary of the first publication of the novel in the form of a serial in a newspaper, in 1844. “It was only natural for us to find a way to honor the memory of Alexandre Dumas. And what better opportunity to do so than to support the wonderful work of Libraries Without Borders?” adds the producer.
In France and in more than 30 countries, the association creates innovative cultural and educational spaces for people affected by crises and precariousness. “This generous support from the film crew will contribute to this, we are very honored,” reacted Jérémy Lachal, general director of Libraries without Borders, in the press release.
