The administrative court of Paris had suspended the expulsion order. Imam Hassan Iquioussen can finally be expelled following the decision of the Council of State, this Monday afternoon.
“A great victory for the Republic” according to Gérald Darmanin
According to the interim judge of the Council of State, “his anti-Semitic remarks, made for several years at numerous widely publicized conferences […] constitute acts of explicit and deliberate incitement to discrimination or hatred justifying the decision of expulsion”.
The expulsion of the 57-year-old imam, born in France but of Moroccan nationality, was first announced by the interior minister at the end of July. Gérald Darmanin criticizes her for calls for hatred and violence, in particular towards the Jewish community, and for not recognizing equality between women and men. Hassan Iquioussen is listed S for 18 months. The Minister is delighted this Monday with a “great victory for the Republic”.
“The legal fight continues” according to his lawyer
The preacher’s lawyer spoke out in stride on Twitter. “The legal fight continues, the Administrative Court of Paris will have to look into the merits of the case soon, and Hassan Iquioussen is studying the possibility of seizing the European Court of Human Rights again.”
