The Côtes de Chanturgue in Clermont

A fast route for a varied workout

S: So today I’m thinking of you who don’t have a lot of free time in your day and who would like to take advantage of a fast and varied itinerary in Clermont-Ferrand, after work or even during your lunch break. So we start on the side of the Côtes de Chanturgue.
This is one of my favorite routes after work for a short workout, with a bit of elevation gain and great views of the city of Clermont-Ferrand.

Starting point in the Glacière district

This is the strong point of this route once again very short, only 6km for 260m of elevation gain, small but tough! On the program, therefore, a very pleasant single track in the forest to start with a few passages on stairs before a panoramic view of Clermont-Ferrand which is worth its weight in peanuts. Then we continue with hilly paths, rich in beautiful vegetation. Be careful to follow the blue markings carefully so as not to lose track!

We therefore descend via a very pleasant single track to the Col de Brancillon. And before the technical descent towards the starting point of the route, we take the opportunity to stop for a few minutes in front of the Gallo-Roman archaeological site updated in 1950: an ancient Gallic oppidum, a Gallo-Roman temple and ‘ a villa.

A site therefore endowed with a beautiful naturalistic and archaeological richness

We put on good shoes and we go at our own pace and normally afterwards we are in great shape to face the urban jungle!

Important clarification: You can find the GPX track of this trail route on the Auvergne-Destination.com website!
