Visits will no longer be authorized from Monday, December 27 at the Cotentin Public Hospital Center, in Cherbourg and Valognes. The establishment announces it in a press release. A decision taken again following the non-compliance with health regulations for many visitors the last days. Added to this is the hospital tension linked to the fifth wave of Covid-19.
Despite all the recommendations frequently disseminated on our various communication media making users aware of the wearing of a surgical mask in the establishment (including in the rooms), the respect of distances (hugs, contacts), the restriction of the number of visitors… we come up against non-compliance with the measures enacted – Communication from the Center Hospitalier Public du Cotentin
The management of the establishment observes moreover the Covid-19 contamination of several patients. It also evokes the aggressiveness of several visitors towards staff. “The healthcare teams, already strongly mobilized in the day-to-day management of care accompanied by specific measures linked to Covid, are constantly called upon to remind people of the health instructions”, specifies the press release.
Thus, the crisis unit of the Center Hospitalier Public du Cotentin has chosen to prohibit visits until further notice. Ehpad are not affected and there are some exceptions :
- Consultations: such an essential support
- Maternity: spouse only
- Pediatrics: one accompanying parent only
- End of life: exceptional medical exemptions may be offered
The hospitals of Coutances and Saint-Lô have already restricted visits to their establishment, since Thursday, December 23.
