In La Ciotat (Bouches-du-Rhône), seasonal workers clean a private beach, before the start of the Easter holidays for zone C. Restaurateurs know that the start of the school holidays is a boost. In a hotel facing the sea, it is time to prepare the rooms. Reservations are good, but are increasingly made at the last minute. “We are almost at 60% across the entire area”says Hamid Joafari, receptionist at the Rose Thé Hotel.
The first highlight of the tourist season
Near the Old Port, an Italian ice cream parlor also awaits the arrival of tourists. The scent of the holidays heralds an increase in sales. “We can easily turn 4, 5 medium pots and around a hundred cones”, assures Alessandro Schintu, ice cream maker. With bright sunshine and up to 23°C forecast for Sunday April 7, La Ciotat expects to experience the first highlight of its tourist season.
