On Tuesday 26 April, the Indre-et-Loire prefecture published a decree prohibiting the consumption of fruit and vegetables produced within 500 meters around the former Autocast foundry in Bléré. The use of water from wells and domestic boreholes is also prohibited, in particular for watering fruits and vegetables. This decree runs until June 15.
Recent analyzes carried out around the site have revealed “chronic” pollution of the soil with heavy metals (lead, copper, zinc, hydrocarbons). The town hall of Bléré, owner of the site, will have to commission an analysis office to carry out additional studies.
