The Constitutional Council rejected a second time, Wednesday, May 3, the idea of a referendum of shared initiative on the reform of pensions, which the left opposition hoped for. The latter ensures that she expected this decision. New deadlines are to come for the mobilization against the reform, in the street as in the National Assembly.
In a press release published Wednesday, May 3 at 7 p.m., the Constitutional Council indicated that it rejected the referendum of shared initiative (RIP). A first request for a referendum had already been rejected for the same reason, namely that the bill was not intended “social policy reform“. PS deputy from Calvados, Arthur Delaporte explains that the opposition had “anticipated this decision for a few weeks. It’s obviously a shame, because it would have been a way to consult the French“.
The mobilization against the reform continues
A new lost battle for opponents of pension reform, which is far from signing the end of the mobilization. A day of mobilization is planned by the inter-union on June 6, and various actions must be carried out by then. In the National Assembly, on June 8, a bill from the LIOT group will be examined. It aims to repeal the reform.
