The Constellium company based in Ussel (Corrèze) is going to be sold. The 270 employees learned this during a social and economic committee (CSE), Thursday, September 22. A decision that arouses concern and incomprehension, especially since the order book is full according to the CGT. “The amazement was enormous to learn of the sale of Constellium which is one of the largest employers in the city“explains Patrick Courteix of the local union of the CGT in Ussel.
The management justifies this sale with a restructuring and wishes to refocus on its other activities, rolling and spinning. According to Patrick Courteix, rolling and spinning “are surely more profitable for Constellium since the foundry runs on gas and with the rise in energy prices, it can quickly become complicated“.
From now on, the employees are waiting for more information in order to know more about their future. At the CGT, we are preparing for the organization of a possible social movement : “We will fight so that if there is a buyer, we can keep all the jobs. Everyone has to stick together… Both employees and residents of Usselois“.
The first visits are scheduled for next week. In 2013, the company had already considered selling the Ussel site for the same restructuring reasons.
