Companies are suffering from energy and raw material price increases. In the Paris region, an SME, which manufactures ventilation ducts with zinc and iron from Ukraine and Russia, is worried.
French companies are in need of steel, wood or aluminium. With the Covid-19 epidemic and the war in Ukraine, the shortage hit certain raw materials and caused their prices to soar. In Sucy-en-Brie (Val-de-Marne), the Ceretti company manufactures ventilation ducts, based on zinc and steel from Ukraine.
The boss has two months of stocks in advance, but with the strong global demand and the additional cost of transport, he fears having to pay for his next order at a high price. “It is my suppliers who will look, right to left, who will no doubt go through Turkey, China, India, to look for metals elsewhere. So we will pay them between 20 and 30% more in the coming weeks”, believes Olivier Trayaux, the director of the company. The situation also worries employees, who fear that they will find themselves unemployed.
