“There probably won’t be a magnificent, profound breakthrough.” The Ukrainian army is “in a dead end”said, Wednesday, November 1, the commander-in-chief of the kyiv forces, Valery Zalouzhny, in an interview with the British weekly The Economist. According to him, this situation is caused by the “technological level” reached by the belligerents, “just like in the First World War”.

“No, the conflict is not at an impasse”replied Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov on Thursday. “Russia continues its special military operation relentlessly. All set goals must be achieved”he added.

Since June, Ukraine has been leading a slow counter-offensive to try to liberate the occupied territories in the East and South. So far, progress has been very limited. The front line, more than 1,000 km long, has barely moved for almost a year and the liberation of the city of Kherson in November 2022.
