the concert of the Russian singer “for peace” triggers the anger of the collective for Ukraine

There were about fifteen of them, this Sunday afternoon, Ukrainian flags on their backs and signs in their hands, to denounce the concert “Songs of the Slavic soul, sacred music for peace” which was held at the Evangelical Church of Tabor, in Rennes. This concert, interpreted in particular by the Russian soprano Daria Davidova, attracted the wrath of the collective Solidarité-Bretagne Ukraine, which criticizes the singer for not taking a stand against the war in Ukraine.

“She sings for peace. However, she does not speak against the war in Ukraine”underlines Ivanna Baron, of the collective. “You shouldn’t play on the sensitivity of the people of Rennes to make money. It’s not politics, it’s not a question of politicizing the debates, but of humanizing them. When there is war , when there are children, women who are raped, killed, that we have not yet found all the bodies in Ukraine, no, it’s not politics. All artists must express themselves against violence. It’s the least we can do.”

For his part, the companion of the singer did not wish to speak directly at the microphone of France Bleu Armorique. He assures us that it is “prayers for peace”, without political connotation. “The only thing we can do is pray for peace. It’s a tough and unfortunate conflict, but should all Russian artists ask for forgiveness?“, he assures. “Daria is caught in the crossfire, her grandmother is in Ukraine”. Questioned by the demonstrators, he recognizes that the money raised through this concert will not be donated to an association, “we are in deficit”he replies.
