The Eurovision final takes place this Saturday, May 11. This year’s competition is particularly tense with the presence of pro-Palestinian demonstrations calling for the exclusion of Israel.
The fervor of the final overtaken by the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. On the main square of Malmö (Sweden), this Saturday, May 11, hundreds of demonstrators showed their support for Palestine and called for a boycott of Eurovision. A protest which is spreading to the surroundings of the Malmö Arena, all week long, rallies took place in front of the performance hall without spoiling the party.
Slimane interrupted his rehearsal
The Israeli singer and candidate is at the heart of the controversy, her participation in the competition and her qualification for the final are debated. Eurovision is keen on its neutrality, so some have given their support to Palestine in secretive words. The French representative, Slimane, created a surprise by interrupting his last rehearsal to send a message of peace. In the midst of all these positions, this is the first time that Slimane has spoken on the subject.
