End clap for the Phoenix Houses. This famous brand of individual houses has enabled many French people to access property, but the Nanterre commercial court has ordered the group to be liquidated. More than 1,600 construction sites have been interrupted.
This was to be the home of his dreams. Kevin Durban has received the keys to an unfinished house in Champcueil (Essonne), where everything remains to be done. Its builder, Maisons Phénix, and their Geoxia group, have been placed in liquidation, leaving it alone to deal with the numerous finishes, which represent 25,000 euros of work to be paid. In total, nearly 1,600 construction sites were stopped dead almost everywhere in France. It is the downfall of a giant in the sector.
In the 1980s, Maisons Phénix was the undisputed leader in single-family homes, a symbol of home ownership. But the Covid-19 crisis and the increase in the price of raw materials due to the war in Ukraine got the better of the group. No buyer was represented, to the great despair of the unions. The placement in compulsory liquidation of the company should allow the construction sites to resume, at the expense of the insurance companies.
