A year after the murder of Agnès Lassalle, stabbed by a student in the middle of class, her companion, Stéphane Voirin, told France Télévisions that he had not received a gesture of compassion from the killer or his family.
France Télévisions journalists met Stéphane Voirin, companion of Agnès Lassalle, Spanish teacher killed on February 22, 2023 by a student. During his partner’s funeral, he performed dance steps as a farewell. “It was my way of saying goodbye to Agnès, to be there for this ceremony”, he explains. At the age of 52, Agnès Lassalle’s life was cut short by a 16-year-old student who stabbed her in the middle of class. “We had decided to get married a week before”remembers Stéphane Voirin.
“I never received an apology”
After the tragedy, he received thousands of messages of support. “It’s good to see that in this world, there is still heart”, he says. To investigators, the student who stabbed Agnès Lassalle explained that he heard a voice in his head, ordering him to kill. Indicted for murder, he is in pre-trial detention. “I have never received an apology, I have never received the slightest gesture of compassion from the killer or his family, it is something that bothers me, that blocks me from rebuilding”assures Stéphane Voirin, who adds that he does not feel “of animosity” or “resentment” towards the killer.
