The deadline is fast approaching, but the differences are still felt. The French Communist Party, in negotiations with La France insoumise with a view to an agreement for the legislative elections, considers that “the proposals of La France insoumise (…) have not allowed at this hour” to reach an agreement, in a statement sent to AFP on Saturday, April 30.
Fabien Roussel’s party, which won 2.3% of the vote in the presidential election, is calling “a coalition of forces without hegemony and a common label that reflects the expression of our diversity”. The Socialist Party had already deplored the “hegemonic logic” of Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s training, before suspending negotiations on Friday April 29.
The Communists therefore call for the holding “of a joint meeting of our four political parties” (PCF, PS, Europe Ecologie-Les Verts and the New Anti-Capitalist Party) with which LFI is conducting separate bilateral discussions. On Friday, Jean-Luc Mélenchon said to himself “optimistic” on the possibility of finding an agreement with the rest of the left, preferably for May 1, but only an agreement with Génération.s was concluded on Thursday.
