It is called “The comet of the century”. It could be visible over France from the evening of October 12, provided the sky is clear. Will we be able to observe it with the naked eye?
Seeing a comet for just one second is always a majestic spectacle. This will be possible from this evening in the skies of the northern hemisphere. Comet Tsuchinshan-Atlas will be visible to the naked eye for around ten days. To see it, you will have to position yourself in a poorly lit place in the early evening and look towards the west.
Earthlings in the southern hemisphere have already been able to contemplate this celestial body made of rocks and ice. The comet was detected in 2023 but likely traveled for millions of years in the cosmos before coming closer to Earth. It is called the comet of the century, a way of speaking because in reality, it is not expected to reappear for another 80,000 years.
