The organizers of the Colmar market, in the Haut-Rhin, have announced that exhibitors will not be allowed to heat their chalets. A decision that worries the first concerned.
This year, on the Christmas market in Colmar (Haut-Rhin), it will certainly be necessary to pile up vests and down jackets. Indeed, the organizers have announced that there will be no more auxiliary heaters in the 174 chalets. The tourist office is considering solutions such as reinforced floors, less permeable to the cold. However, exhibitors are rather resigned, Thursday, September 22. “We have no choice because the decree is there”explains Jean-Jacques Better, president of the Union of trades and industries of the hotel industry of Haut-Rhin (UMIH).
Christmas markets remain a godsend for traders. There is therefore no question of renouncing to participate in it, even if it means making concessions. The gourmet market will close an hour earlier, around 9 p.m., to save energy. Even in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), it will be necessary to approach Christmas with sobriety, but the city allows itself a little time before addressing the question with its exhibitors.
