On the night of Tuesday 21 to Wednesday 22 June, an extremely violent storm phenomenon hit Liernais and its surroundings, causing considerable damage to homes, public and agricultural buildings… François de la Grange à Liernais was not spared by this episode, especially the roofs, resulting in the closure of the site until the end of the school year. The department of Côte-d’Or therefore undertook during the summer the work necessary for the rehabilitation of the college in order to welcome the 63 college students for the start of the 2022-2023 school year in the best possible conditions.
A major disaster which had led to the closure of the college
The roof of the college but also that of the school center located in the immediate vicinity had been pierced by hail in many places and several rooms were badly damaged, especially in the administrative building. “We first carried out emergency interventions, such as installing tarpaulins on the most damaged parts of the roof, recovering the tiles that were not destroyed, remodeling the roofs, securing the premises. I would also like to thank the local companies for their responsiveness and their know-how, as well as the firefighters and the agents of the Department. Their mobilization enabled us to prevent the disaster from getting worse” details the UDI President of the Departmental Council François Sauvadet, who then asked his services to “do everything so that the college can reopen next school year”.

Already €200,000 of emergency works committed
Following consultation in the emergency procedure, as permitted by the Public Procurement Code in the event of a claim of this type, the department was able to select the companies in charge of the roof repair sites for the entire site, repair occasional false ceilings, lighting, partitioning and painting of impacted areas. It is also local companies that carry out the work. But the offers do not make it possible to carry out the repair of all the roofs, due to the unavailability of the companies and/or the materials. However, the essential works for the reopening of the establishment on September 1st, for an amount of €200,000, are in progress.
They relate to:
the repair of the roof (in tiles) of the building housing the catering area, the staff accommodation and the garden shed,
the repair of the roof (in zinc) of the teaching buildings and garage,
the repair of false ceilings, lighting, partitioning and painting of all areas affected by the disaster (classrooms, administrative premises, housing).
