I have been a strong supporter of the CAQ from the earliest days. François Legault’s speech was mine. I voted and worked for the CAQ. What a great party we had!
But the COVID helping, the intoxication of power had its effect felt. Since then, for the clique in place, the points of view of others count less and we have an excessive confidence in our own judgment. Airs of hubris syndrome, for those who want to dig into the thing.
Hence the appearance of symptoms such as a pharaonic tunnel in terms of size and cost, procrastination in municipal files (eg the tramway in Quebec), too narrow a mandate given to the CDPQ for the REM and possibly the gift of $500 during the pre-election period.
Of course, the people in power are still smart, well-meaning and honest, but how to frame them and hope to make them listen to reason?
In short, for me, the CAQ no longer exists. At least, the extraordinary team that led to victory no longer has the propriety and wisdom that I granted them.
Some believe in electing a new party to tame the machinery of government, not me. I’m still looking for a shoe that fits me!
