In his column, Michel Mompontet looks back on recent releases. He particularly praises the album Majakka (Studios la Buis), by Jean-Marie Machado.

Anastasia Kobekina has just released an absolutely wonderful album, Ellipses (Mirare). “This young woman has everything to succeed. She was the winner of the very prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (Russia), in 2019”, confides the journalist of France Télévisions, Michel Mompontet. In her album, she moves with incredible grace from the most elaborate baroque music to contemporary music.

The crush of the week is due to Nelson Goerner, who has just released an amazing album on music, Iberia (Alpha) by Isaac Albéniz. “It is this music that takes us to the depths of Spain, Andalusia, at the beginning of the 20th century”, says Michel Mompontet. On the classical side, it is an event, with the disc: Bach: Mass in B Minor (Harmonia Mundi) by Jean-Sébastien Bach, conducted by a Belgian conductor, René Jacobs. Finally, a French artist, Jean-Marie Machado, released an album, Majakka (Studios la Buis). “He’s someone who takes us to countries. The whole thing is absolutely extraordinary. It’s a new, unheard-of and luminous version, which is called traveling by the ears”assures Michel Mompontet.
