Social housing: the city of Compiègne wants to tighten the allocation rules

In the city, obtaining social housing is often complicated, because there are more candidates than places, and a certain number of conditions must be met. In Oise, Compiègne would like to include a penalty for traffickers, troublemakers and bad payers.

This is a novelty which is causing controversy in Compiègne (Oise). The town hall wants to tighten the conditions of access to social housing. Families whose members have been convicted by the courts will be penalized by a penalty on the rating of their file: minus 10 points if a member was convicted of violence or neighborhood disturbances and minus 25 points if he or she was convicted for drug trafficking.

Social landlords claim they cannot apply these criteria

Vincent Moquet, project manager for the CLCV tenants association, denounces an injustice. “Add additional penalties that penalize the whole family, (…) to that, we will say no”, he declares. Compiègne town hall is fully responsible. Social landlords claim they cannot control these new criteria. The town hall replies that it is ready to find out about the tenants’ past on the Internet and in local newspapers. The information technology and freedoms committee has been contacted.
