The City and the Agglomeration of La Rochelle deploy the heat wave plan

If a passage in orange vigilance “heat wave” is more strongly possible by the end of the week in the department of Charente-Maritime, the city and the agglomeration of La Rochelle have decided to anticipate the heat wave and its consequences to protect population. An activation that leads to many measures for this Wednesday, July 13. Here are the details.

➡️ Urban cooling equipment is put into operation: fountains in front of the Encan space and foggers in Square Valin and on the station forecourt.

➡️ A map of the fountains is communicated to indicate the places where the water points are located in the city of La Rochelle.

➡️ Foggers will be set up in the queues of the Francofolies and the various swimming pools of the Agglomeration.

➡️ Nurseries and leisure centers remain open and have fans. The premises are ventilated by the municipal teams very early in the morning.

➡ For the staff of the three communities: City, Agglomeration and CCAS, the schedules have been set up for some hard outdoor work to protect agents.

➡️ The Civil Status Department is also adjusting its opening hours: it will open at 8 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. on July 13, 15 and 18.

Vulnerable people

Vulnerable people have been called since Wednesday morning. Nearly 2,000 people registered on the solidarity register are receiving a call from agents of the City of La Rochelle and the CCAS.

The objective is to remind people of good practices and to invite people who are well surrounded to report themselves so that municipal agents focus their calls on people who are isolated this summer. If necessary, home visits can be arranged.

The City calls on residents to pay particular attention to their isolated and fragile neighbors.
