The CISSS de l’Outaouais will make wearing a mask compulsory

After the CISSS de l’Estrie and the CHU de Québec, it is the turn of the CISSS de l’Outaouais to make the wearing of a procedural mask compulsory in its facilities. The health establishment will require it from October 10 in its hospitals, its CHSLDs and its rehabilitation center, La Ressource.

“This decision was taken following the recent increase in the circulation of respiratory viruses in our region,” writes the health establishment in a press release. The priority of the CISSS de l’Outaouais is to ensure the safety of the most vulnerable users and all health personnel who work tirelessly for their well-being. »

Since Monday, wearing a mask has also been mandatory at the CHUM in Montreal, “for all staff and doctors as soon as they enter the room” of a patient or “when they are in the presence” of a patient “regardless of clinical care area,” a memo states.

Visitors and relatives who enter a room or care area are also required to wear a mask. The mask was already required in certain units welcoming patients at risk, such as intensive care, emergency, neonatology, as well as during radiation oncology treatments.

The CHUM justifies the return of the mask by “the level of circulation of the COVID-19 virus, an increasingly significant presence of respiratory viruses as well as the continued increase in the number of positive employees, reflecting the community contamination”.
