The Church of France has announced that it has collected a sum of 20 million euros which will feed the compensation fund for the victims of child crime. It was a promise made in August 2021, after the publication of the Sauvé report.

After the publication of the Sauvé report last August, the Church announced compensation for the 330,000 victims of pedophilia by clerics. A few months later, the Church of France declares having collected 20 million euros in the quest for compensation for the victims. For this, real estate has been put up for sale.

The first-ever property housing a bishop has been put up for sale by the Catholic Church to compensate victims of sexual abuse. “The house in total is 250 square meters of living space. It has 8 bedrooms. (It) will be put up for sale next week for the sum of 1,250,000 euros”, explains Phillipe Guyard, diocesan bursar of Créteil. Several bishops parted with their personal property in order to be able to raise the sum necessary to repair the damage caused to the thousands of victims.
