It is in an attempt to find a little silence, to “revalue inner dialogue, perspective and reflection” that the journalist and columnist Stéphane Garneau speaks lucidly about the noise that inhabits and conditions our lives. Noise that sweeps through social networks, this spittoon of opinions which presents itself in an infernal cacophony, but also the noise of engines, the noise of cities and the countryside, of this dull and/or frank rumor which inhabits, even undermines, our daily lives . The author also mentions numerous statistics, necessary, but burdensome – he is also aware of this – the consequences of this noise on physical and mental health. Although there are few surprises, surprising or little-known facts in the essay, Garneau presents an effective overview of what prevents us from being collectively well and thoughtful. If the followers of silence, contemplation and reflection will be reinforced here in their vision of the thing, there is little chance that the rowdy ones will take the time to delve into it.
