In Eastern Europe, the war in Ukraine continues, Thursday, June 2. France 2 collected the testimonies of Ukrainians tortured by Russian soldiers.
Hlib Stryzhko, a Ukrainian sailor, was one of the victims of torture by the Russian army. His pelvis and jaw are broken. He also lost sight in one of his eyes. Prisoner for seventeen long days, he defended the city of Mariupol as a marine. Today, he recounts the horror he experienced. “He was holding a dagger to my leg, then to my throat, then to my ear and they were like, ‘It would be nice to cut it off for you'”he explains.
“I couldn’t sit up and my jaw was broken. So they gave me food. But some nurses were laughing at me leaving the food in front of me, saying, ‘Feed yourself poor Ukrainian'”, says Hlib Stryzhko. Determined, this marine explains that he would like to return to the battlefield. According to the Geneva Convention, torture is a war crime.
