The mother of the newborn found alive in a trash can on Friday October 20 in Rennes, in Ille-et-Vilaine, confessed to her actions and will be referred to the Rennes public prosecutor’s office on Saturday, France Bleu Armorique reported on Saturday October 28.
“The young minor woman, mother of the infant, unknown to the courts, was able to specify during her hearings that she had known that she was pregnant for several months and admitted that after giving birth in her room, she had put the baby in a plastic bag then in a garbage bag, before placing him in the garbage container near his home”specifies the public prosecutor of Rennes to France Bleu Armorique.
Father’s custody lifted
The father’s police custody was lifted on Friday evening without prosecution because investigations verified that he was at his workplace at the time of the events. They had both been in police custody since Thursday. The father, a 24-year-old man, admitted to having had a sexual relationship this year with a 17-year-old minor. This is the baby’s mother.
The newborn, male, suffers “a fracture to the skull, the origin of which cannot be established to date“, according to Philippe Astruc, public prosecutor of Rennes. A children’s judge must be appointed to decide on his future.
