The Chiefs ! : The confrontation | The devil’s feet, hands and mouth!

There was pollen on the plates (good evening allergies), a smoker oven, a violent outbreak in the kitchen, a pot full of earth-amisu (thanks for the pun) as well as the consecration of a large cord blue, which wasn’t as disheveled as his signature hairstyle.

Now the whistleblower alert is screaming here like Anthony after an Élyse Marquis countdown in the kitchen-studio. Okay, have you compiled your notes?

In a spicy and well-smoked finish, it was the calm, cool and creative Luca Cianciulli, 33, co-owner of the Italian restaurant Moccione, in Villeray, who won the 13e reality TV season The Chiefs !, from Radio-Canada, presented as a clash between former competitors from the 12 previous editions.

The Montrealer’s gastronomic and “poetic” menu, cooked up in five hours, did not include any serious fault, unlike Anthony Vien’s undercooked foie gras or Guillaume Couture’s less refined dessert.

After serving the two entries, and despite the judges’ insistence on the “tight” aspect of the competition, Luca clearly stood out with tasty, precise and original recipes. His main course of duck cooked on a chest, with fennel pollen and a cloud of popped corn, merited several censer burns. And his flowerpot dessert in spring made Normand Laprise say: “It’s one of the best tiramisus I’ve eaten.” »

Experienced, meticulous, just delinquent enough and resistant to pressure, Luca Cianciulli ticked all the boxes to put on the golden hat. “I am someone who manages stress well. I have two young children. And my partner helps me a lot with that,” confides Luca Cianciulli, father of Giulia, two and a half years old, and Paco, three months old.

Little Paco was born a week after the filming of the grand finale of Chiefs!, which took place in early March. Luca was ready to leave the competition at any moment to attend the birth of his wife, Maxime Landry, his business partner and the pastry chef at Moccione, corner of Saint-Denis and Faillon.

Ironically, the challenge that Luca found the most difficult was fresh pasta, one of his specialties. “The day of filming, I caught my daughter’s hand-foot-mouth problem. I was very sick. I was sweating so much. I had to go slowly, otherwise I was going to pass out,” he remembers.

Luca Cianciulli, who has family in Avellino, east of Naples, was first trained by Pasquale Vari at the Institut de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec (ITHQ). After his participation in the second season of Chiefs!, in 2011 (he finished seventh), he was recruited by Normand Laprise to work in the kitchens of Toqué!, where he stayed for six years. It is in this upscale establishment in downtown Montreal that he will meet the future mother of his children as well as another of his mentors, Charles-Antoine Crête, today at the helm of the Montreal Plaza, rue Saint -Hubert.

In ten episodes of Chiefs!Luca was never sent to the duel, just like his comrade and adversary Anthony, 27, sous chef at the Tanière restaurant3 of Quebec and king of accidental cuts.

Even though he maximized his product by using his black cod from head to tail, the ambitious Anthony collected the bronze medal, placing behind the perfectionist Guillaume, 31, a teacher at the École hôtelière de la Capitale , in Quebec.

Since the broadcast of Chiefs!, Luca Cianciulli receives tons of comments from the public and the reservation book for Moccione, which means “little slobber” in Italian, is not fading. Pro tip: Moccione’s 20-seat outdoor terrace operates on a first-come, first-served basis.

And as no marquee tops this terrace in the Villeray district, there is no danger of firefighters closing it in disaster, between two mouthfuls of bucatini all’amatriciana.

Final of Traitors

Down with the masks Traitors

At the same time as The Chiefs !the murder mystery reality show Traitors de Noovo also crowned its champion. Stop reading immediately if you haven’t yet seen red and green flames licking the ends of host Karine Vanasse’s hair.

How are you ? There was not a single winner in the Traitors, but three winners, namely the faithful Kim Hardy (ex-military), Cédric Fofana (Olympic diver) and Chelsea Jones (federal civil servant). The trio pocketed the prize pool of $92,500, to be divided into three equal shares.

After Michel, Marie-Josée, Axel and Maxence, the last traitor in the game, Ismaëlle Michelot (ex-customs officer), was banished to the final round table. His elimination was predictable.

Like Maxence, Ishmaëlle radically changed her attitude when she fell into the camp of the wicked. It was written on her forehead that she was scheming behind the backs of her roommates at the Rouville-Campbell mansion.

Hoping to save his skin, before the “fire of truth” stage, real estate broker Étienne Nadeau raised very valid points about the unbreakable duo formed by Cédric and Chelsea, which disadvantaged the other participants . I’m going to make enemies here, too bad, but Chelsea have been a poor player in the Traitors. She did not contribute to the investigations and her peephole detector was rotten. Étienne, always capable of facing a headwind, really deserved more to triumph.

Spring Cinderella success on Noovo, Traitors will return to the air next year for a second season, which we hope is punchier and filled with more thrilling challenges. The challenges serving to fatten the fortunes of Traitors were not up to par. For example, for the final activity, there was nothing exciting about watching candidates battle it out with an old compass and a boat rope. We want more helicopters, traps and catapults, please.
