(Washington) The White House is eager to welcome back the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, and isn’t ruling out the possibility that the team’s most famous fan, Taylor Swift, will be there this time.
Asked at Monday’s press briefing about the possibility of the pop star coming as a “plus one” when the team visits the White House to celebrate its second Super Bowl title in as many seasons, press officer Karine Jean-Pierre replied: “It’s up to the Chiefs to decide who will accompany them.”
“I cannot speak about the attendance and the people who will be present,” added the White House spokesperson.
Swift is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and celebrated on the field after his team’s 25-22 win at the 49ers of San Francisco in overtime, Sunday in Las Vegas.
Swift has been the subject of intense media coverage throughout the season and has even drawn the ire of some conservatives who have spread baseless claims that the singer is part of an elaborate plot to help Democrats to win the November presidential election because she could ultimately support President Joe Biden’s re-election bid.
When asked if players would be allowed to bring guests, Mme Jean-Pierre replied that she was not sure of the protocol.
” It’s a good question. I can’t answer it at the moment. But we can’t wait to welcome them, the Chiefs,” she said.
