The city of Brussels did not wait until December 25 for the magic to operate in its streets. Every evening, thousands of illuminations transport residents and tourists throughout the Belgian capital.

Every evening, magic takes hold of the Grand-Place in Brussels (Belgium), at nightfall. “It represents Christmas, the magic of Christmas”, confides a passerby. 1,800 projectors are scattered around the square. The 360-degree decor took two months to prepare. “People need it, they want to travel. We wanted to create a romantic show, which reflects the real Christmas”, explains Daphné Delbeke, the co-founder of Magic Monkey.

After a blank year due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the city of Brussels has pulled out all the stops: 152 streets are lit, and 18 kilometers of lights have been installed. Even the European quarter, which is usually a bit austere, has gotten up to speed. “It breaks this monotony that is a little cold in winter, especially in this neighborhood which is quite dark and black. I find that brilliant”, rejoices a man. The city also offers passers-by a three-dimensional show on the facade of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, in order to immerse themselves in the collections in an unprecedented way.
