AT 24 years old, Wilson coordinates “Génération Nation” in Ile-de-France. it is the youth movement of the Rassemblement National renamed “Les Jeunes avec Marine Le Pen” for the presidential election. Wilson began campaigning for the Rassemblement National in high school when he was 17. He tells us why.

Wilson was born in Essonne. His parents, both executives in aeronautics, are not really politicized. “They vote occasionally. They didn’t bathe me in politics at all. They are on the right but have never voted National Front or National Rally.

The young activist says he adhered to the ideas of the National Rally when he was in high school:I felt that the traditional right had betrayed the French and did not meet the expectations of its electorate.

“What interested me was the social fiber that Marine Le Pen brought while responding concretely to the problem of immigration, neglected or betrayed by the traditional right.”

With Jordan Bardella as a model, Wilson belongs to this generation which knew the far-right party at the time of its “de-demonization”. This evolution of the party would have helped him to assume his political ideas, admits the young militant. “This new image of the RN did not block me from assuming. When I talked about it with my friends, I felt that it could surprise, but over the years, the process of demonization made it no longer embarrassing to talk about it.

This is “seeing the state of the country“that Wilson decided to make a concrete commitment to the National Rally in 2015.”I couldn’t look myself in the face and tell myself that I hadn’t done anything. It was unthinkable.

I think the Charlie Hebdo attacks were a trigger for me.

The young activist at the National Rally deplores the lack of debate during this presidential campaign, according to him. “The presidential campaign, I find it non-existent. We have gone from Covid with meetings prohibited or with gauges to a campaign monopolized by the war in Ukraine. That’s not going to help abstention in my opinion.“, laments Wilson.
