After four years of proceedings, the dispute between the Chamois Niortais and the Renaud-Figureau duo seems to know its epilogue. Sentenced in 2020 by the industrial tribunal of Niort for unfair dismissal, the leaders of the Deux-Sèvres football club had appealed the decision. In a judgment delivered this Thursday morning, the Poitiers Court of Appeal confirmed the coach and his assistant at the time on the Niort bench.
The ex-coach of Carquefou and Paris FC sued the Niort club for his dismissal in February 2018 (after the defeat conceded in front of Nîmes 1-4 at the René-Gaillard stadium). The club had justified this departure by a serious fault explaining that the coach had put in place a strategy to be landed as soon as his contract was extended. What Denis Renaud and Stéphane Figureau have always disputed.
Improper termination and breach of privacy
Justice gave them once again right in considering that it was an abusive breach of contract. Consequently, the Chamois Niortais are definitively condemned to compensate Denis Renaud up to around 450,000 euros and his deputy up to almost 140,000 euros.
