Elisabeth Borne, the First Minister, makes his first trip abroad, to Algeria, sunday October 9. “The symbolic significance of the visit is very strong. The official trip comes very shortly after that of Emmanuel Macron last August. The objective is therefore to capitalize on this thaw, to maintain the momentum after years of tension.explains Astrid Mezmorianlive from Algiers (Algeria).
Fifteen ministers therefore made the trip to forge economic partnerships but also energy because Algerian gas could serve as an alternative to Russian gas for France. “However, there are still obstacles to overcome.
