The general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, would have several options on the table to move back to the repechage, Wednesday evening in Nashville.
Reputable Daily Faceoff website insider Frank Seravalli reports that the Canadiens have received five trade offers for their fifth overall pick. These offers come from teams wanting to advance to the draft.
Such a trade could only come after the San Jose Sharks are picked at No. 4, so the Canadiens know exactly which players are available at No. 5 before making a decision.

Moreover, it seems that Kent Hughes tried to advance to fourth place, but in vain.
“According to sources, the Canadiens called the Sharks at least once to inquire about the possibility of reversing the picks, but Sharks GM Mike Grier would categorically refuse to give up the fourth pick,” Seravalli added.
Corey Pronman reports that people across the National Hockey League are confident the Canadiens won’t pick No. 5 Matvei Michkov, which could explain why Hughes wants to back down.
