The CGT representing the dancers of the ballet of the Paris National Opera has lifted its strike notice for the performances of December 23, 25 and 31, after the dancers’ vote on the agreement discussed with management, reveal France Musique and France Culture Thursday December 21.

Parties Jiří Kylián And Nutcracker which are almost all sold out on December 23, 25 and 31, 2023 will be able to be held.

“We obtained great commitment from management”

The last meeting, organized on Wednesday evening, made it possible to find the beginnings of an agreement between the dancers and the management of the Paris National Opera. “We obtained great commitment from management“, reports a dancer and CGT delegate who participated in the discussions.

Ballet dancers demanded better consideration of their preparation time. According to them, they spend an average of 42 hours per month preparing for shows, whether it’s dressing or makeup. But their remuneration is equivalent to six hours of monthly preparation. The management of the Opera has therefore committed to addressing the subject with a dedicated envelope, starting next spring.
