The CFL would present a new offer to players on Wednesday

(Toronto) The CFL would present a new offer to the Players’ Association when talks resume on Wednesday.

This will be the first meeting between the league and the union since last Thursday, when the AJLCF refused the league’s offer for a 10-year collective agreement that included a salary cap freeze and the abolition of the ratio of Canadian players per team.

According to two sources, the CFL will table a new offer on Wednesday.

The current collective agreement is due to expire on Saturday, the day before training camps begin in the CFL.

The Players’ Association has ordered its members not to report to camps without a new contract.

The teams retaliated by informing their players who will report to the camps that they will be fed and housed free of charge, in the event of a strike.

CFL players have called only one strike before, in 1974, but the dispute was settled before the start of the regular season.
