The CFDT is concerned about the dangers faced by workers, in the context of urban violence after the death of a teenager in Nanterre (Seine-Saint-Denis) on June 27. The union calls “all employers” to allow “if necessary” telecommuting “to ensure the safety of workers”, in a press release published on Saturday, July 1. The union also demands that “service opening hours [soient] adapted to the operation of public transport”while the means of public transport are suspended in the evening in several cities.

“The suspensions of transport service must also be taken into account in the schedules of workers and all facilities must be mobilized to ensure all their movements in safety”continues the CFDT, which also wants “the social assistance services for personnel are mobilized to make the necessary contacts with workers who have had to suffer material, physical or moral violence at work or not”.

In Ile-de-France, buses and trams will stop running on Saturday July 1 from 9 p.m., like the day before, and this, “until further notice”, announced the RATP on Friday. Other cities, such as Lyon, have also chosen to reduce or suspend public transport service in the evening.
