The CEO of the Integrated Health and Social Services Center of the North Shore, Manon Asselin, fired

After months marked by service disruptions in certain hospitals on the North Shore, the Legault government dismissed the president and general director (CEO) of the Integrated Health and Social Services Center of the North Shore (CISSS ) from the region, Manon Asselin.

“A change within the governance of the CISSS de la Côte-Nord will make it possible to address the challenges in health and social services in the region, for the benefit of the entire population of the Côte-Nord,” the Ministry of Health wrote on Wednesday. Health and Social Services, in a press release.

The deputy president and CEO of the CISSS, Nathalie Castilloux, will act as interim president until Quebec appoints a new CEO

For the future, the CIUSSS du Saguenay — Lac-Saint-Jean and Santé Québec will formally support the senior management of the Integrated Health and Social Services Center of the North Shore.

In recent months, the region has experienced significant service disruptions due to staff shortages. This situation results from the drop in the number of employees of personnel placement agencies who decide to come and work in the region, since the entry into force of new rules from Quebec. These aim to reduce the use of independent labor, which however poses a problem on the North Shore, which is highly dependent on it.

To lend a hand to the staff, members of the public flying team promised by the Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, have been deployed in the territory since this summer.
