The CEO of Radio France, Sibyle Veil, guest on Sunday November 26 on the CMédiatique show on France 5, said “take note” of Arcom’s warning to the public group this week for a controversial sketch by Guillaume Meurice on Benyamin Netanyahu at the end of October, also calling for “move on”.
“I take note of this. I am reassured by the fact that what the Regulatory Authority said is not far from the reasons why I, too, took a disciplinary decision with regard to Guillaume Meurice “declared the CEO of Radio France.
On October 29, the comedian described Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on France Inter as a “kind of a Nazi but without a foreskin”. In a rare decision for a humorous sequence, Arcom estimated this week that this sketch had “undermined the proper exercise by Radio France of its missions and the relationship of trust that it must maintain with all of its listeners.”
Death threats
“This is the decision that was taken by the regulatory authority, I think that now we need to move onestimated Sibyle Veil. Those who participate in the show, some of them have received death threats. There, it still goes very far”she denounced. “Having death threats for a phrase from a comedian, we see that there is something wrong. (…) I think that the controversy has lasted long enough, it will be four weeks, we must move on”.
Guillaume Meurice was questioned on Tuesday, November 21 by the police, as part of an investigation for incitement to hatred and aggravated public insult, after a complaint was filed by the OJE (European Jewish Organization).
