the center of Mont-de-Marsan is not ready

People over 65 can get their Covid vaccine booster by going directly to a vaccination center, in any case, this is what Jean Castex announced, Monday December 6, 2021. But in reality, it is not that simple. In the center of Mont-de-Marsan in the Landes, Petit Bonheur room, all appointments are made until the end of the year. Taken aback by this announcement, employees must reorganize.

The Mont-de Marsan center can vaccinate up to 300 people per day, all slots are all reserved until the end of the year.

Many people have been trying their luck since Monday, to no avail

At the entrance, the message is clearly displayed on a paper : “no vaccination without an appointment, nor making an appointment on site”. Despite everything, among the many arrivals, there are disappointments.

This is the case of Marc, 68, who made an hour’s drive, hoping to get an appointment. The receptionist politely explains to him that this is not possible: “We are reorganizing ourselves in order to be able to satisfy all requests and of course prioritize those over 65”.

I tried my luck – Marc, 65 years old.

We recommend that he go through Doctolib, if not through city medicine, but it is not easy for Marc: “Internet I’m not very good, my doctor said he did not do it, the pharmacy they wait until they have finished the flu to switch to the covid vaccines, so there you go … I tried my luck!”

Others come out vaccinated, and relieved. But to get this meeting, Claire showed perseverance: “I spent 48 hours connecting to Doctolib, it was loading, in vain. So I reconnected every two hours”.

The Mont-de-Marsan center must also switch from Pfizer to Moderna

Nathalie Darraillans, the manager of the Mont de Marsan vaccination center explains that they were taken aback by this announcement, and thatthey need a preparation time.

In addition, from now on, the Pfizer vaccine is reserved for those under 30, who are redirected to town medicine. Vaccination centers must focus on those over 30 with Moderna. However, the Mont-de-Marsan center, which has only used Pfizer so far, must readjust.

From Monday, no-appointment slots could be offered in the center of Mont-de-Marsan. But this will remain limited by the area of the haphazard room, which can accommodate 600 patients per day, at most.
