Barça has not lost everything yet. Eliminated from the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain last Tuesday (1-4, 3-2 in the first leg), the Catalans must win at Santiago-Bernabéu, Sunday April 21, to get closer to their Madrid rivals and restart the title race. Real Madrid, who snatched their qualification for the last four of the C1 on the lawn of Manchester City (1-1, 4-3 on the tabs, 3-3 on the first leg), are eight points ahead before this Clasico.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men will move closer to a 36th Spanish championship title if they manage to string together a 26th match without defeat in the league, since that against Atlético de Madrid on September 24 (1-3). But FC Barcelona is undefeated away from home in La Liga in 2023-2024, and plays its end of the season on Sunday evening. Xavi, who will leave the Catalan bench at the end of this exercise, can still dream of a second title at the head of his long-time club.
