Built under the patronage of François 1er, the castle of Azay-le-Rideau offers all the charm of the Renaissance. A masterpiece of 16th century architecture, the castle collections present numerous collections of objects, tapestries and furniture retracing 4 centuries of history.
Built on a small island in the Indre, it is surrounded by an 8 hectare park made up of magnificent 19th century species.
To complete your knowledge of history and architecture, guided tours will be offered free of charge this Saturday all day and on Sunday morning. You can also discover in the attic of the castle the end-of-studies masterpiece of a journeyman carpenter Luc Somare. It represents the model of part of the frame of the castle. Made of oak, like the original frame, it required 880 hours of work.
Finally, an exhibition dedicated to the two Artistic and Cultural Education projects implemented during the 2021-2022 school year will be presented in the park. The first project was carried out in association with the Alliance Franco-Texane pour les arts, the second carried out within the framework of the device “Stone, sheets, scissors” with a class of 4th of the college André Duschene of Ile-Bouchard.
