The drawing in question is entitled “beginning of a month of fasting”. It shows a scrawny Gazan running after rats, while a woman hits his hand while throwing “not before sunset”in the middle of ruins where we can see the hand of a corpse.

The caricature “underlines the despair of the Palestinians, denounces the famine in Gaza”, “bombed relentlessly by the Israeli army and where the UN fears widespread famine” And “also mocks the absurdity of religion”argued Coco on X, where she published a “little anthology” death threats targeting her and her family, as well as anti-Semitic messages received since its publication.

“You won’t get our hatred but you deserve it”commented in particular on the rebellious MP Sophia Chikirou, close to Jean-Luc Mélenchon, in reaction to this drawing, which another MP from La France insoumise, Sarah Legrain, judges “simply filthy”. On the same network, an Internet user writes in English: “Run whore… You’ll be down soon.”

The designer, who joined Release in 2021 and lives under close protection, can count on daily support. “We strongly condemn and denounce this wave of threats, insults and intimidation, some including death threats which we take very seriously,” said Dov Alfon, editorial director of Releaseat AFP. “This violence must not be trivialized.” The communist deputy Fabien Roussel also brought his “full support” to Coco on X: “Forever by your side, and by Charlie’s side.”
