The Car Guide shows a first look at the 2024 Hyundai Kona

Passing through Berlin, the journalist from Car Guide Gabriel Gélinas was able to attend the worldwide unveiling of the second generation of the popular Hyundai Kona.

“At first glance, its dimensions are significantly larger than those of the previous model: it is longer, wider and taller too,” he notes. Its size gives it increased space for rear passengers and a larger trunk volume.

Stylistically, Gabriel emphasizes the light strip – which surrounds the front of the vehicle – which acts as daytime running lights. In addition, the charging port for the 100% electric model is located at the front and is heated.

Autonomy?

“The battery in this vehicle now has a capacity of 65.4 kWh, so that’s a bit more than the previous model,” he says. However, formal autonomy has not yet been announced for Canada. The WLTP standard, more optimistic than the EPA, estimates that the electric Kona can travel 490 kilometers.

Otherwise, gasoline models will welcome a 2-liter four-cylinder with a CVT box. The sportier N Line variant will instead feature the 1.6-liter turbocharged engine, mated to a new eight-speed transmission.
