The Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) continues to develop its Health Plan. On Sunday, she presented a fourth commitment in a week: to deploy home hospitalization throughout Quebec.
Earlier this week, chief caquiste François Legault had promised significant investments to train and recruit more staff, launch the “Votre santé” application and build mini-private hospitals.
Sunday, in Laval, he explained that he was looking for innovative solutions to unclog the network. “You know, we have a big challenge to have less congestion in the emergency room,” he recalled at a press conference.
The CAQ therefore plans to transfer “hundreds” of patients from hospitals to their homes each year to continue their care. They would be followed by a team made up of doctors and pharmacists, among others.
Hospitalization at home would be offered according to strict criteria. It is necessary that :
— the patient gives his consent;
— his clinical condition allows home care;
— the patient is accompanied by a caregiver who is comfortable and available to take care of him;
— the patient resides within a predetermined perimeter of the hospital.
According to the CAQ’s proposal, five units would see the light of day in Greater Montreal and the Capitale-Nationale region by the end of 2023. Thereafter, the deployment would take place gradually throughout Quebec until 2026.
The cost of the measure is estimated at $235 million over four years.
The Caquist caravan will spend Sunday in Laval, a region that was acquired in the past by the Liberals. “We think it will change a lot on the evening of October 3,” said François Legault.
