The Cannes Film Festival chooses France Télévisions and Brut as media partners

End clap for the partnership between Canal + and the Cannes Film Festival, which has just signed an agreement with France Télévisions and the digital media Brut. The two entities propose to increase the audiovisual coverage of the Cannes film competition in France and abroad.

Acknowledging the renunciation of Canal +, the Festival signed a memorandum of understanding with France Télévisions and the media Brut., And gives an appointment in mid-January to unveil, after a few weeks of work, the outlines of this new partnership“, explains the organization of the Cannes festival in a press release.

In an official press release, the presidency of France Télévisions welcomes the festival’s decision: “This choice is a source of great pride for our entire group. We will thus be able to contribute throughout the duration of the festival, thanks to the exceptional mobilization of all our teams and our branches, to the influence of the largest film festival in the world. We will aim to bring together the French around this emblematic festival which is at the same time prestigious, festive and popular.“.

And the public group to continue: “The confidence shown in us by the festival is also, and above all, recognition of our commitment to cinema and, more broadly, our support for culture. Our group is the leading unencrypted financier of French cinema, a free, rich and diversified offer is offered on all of our linear and digital antennas, to make the seventh art accessible to as many people as possible.“.

At Brut, we count as ambassador to the festival Renaud Le Van Kim, co-founder of the media in 2016 and former flagship producer of Canal +, dismissed in 2015 when Vincent Bolloré joined the Canal + group. “I have a very intimate professional link with the Cannes Film Festival“, explained a few days ago to AFP Renaud Le Van Kim. A huge asset for the director who for 23 years worked on the ceremonies and the promotion of the Cannes festival, in particular via the emblematic Grand Journal, broadcast in direct from the Croisette.

The opportunity for him to recall that Brut, physically present in 18 countries and more than 80 by language, became the leading social media in Europe last year by overtaking BBC News in terms of views. On average, this media specialist in short videos records 400 million views on Facebook worldwide and in France reaches “100% of 15-35 year olds in France”.

The next Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 17 to 28, 2022.
