The Canadiens trade defenseman Shea Weber to the Golden Knights

The Montreal Canadiens traded defenseman Shea Weber to the Vegas Golden Knights for forward Evgenii Dadonov on Thursday.

“First of all, I would like to thank Shea for all he has done and represented for the Montreal Canadiens,” Habs general manager Kent Hughes said in a statement.

“Not only was Shea an exceptional hockey player, who played through major injuries in an effort to bring the Stanley Cup back to Montreal, but he was also a great leader.

“His leadership will have a positive impact on our team far beyond his time with us. I also want to welcome Evgenii Dadonov. He is a talented striker who has produced at all levels since the start of his career. »

Weber scored 58 goals and 146 points in 275 games with CH.

In 2020-21, as captain, he led the team to its first Stanley Cup Final since 1993.
