This is the first major cut since the start of fall camp. All players concerned will take part in the Laval Rocket camp, which will begin on Monday.
Four players holding an NHL contract were cut, namely Jan Mysak, Joël Teasdale, Gianni Fairbrother and Lucas Condotta.
The other players affected are Peter Abbandonato, Anthony Beauregard, Gabriel Bourque, Santino Centorame, Tory Dello, Philippe Desrosiers, Ryan Francis, Olivier Galipeau, Alex Green, Danick Martel, Émile Poirier, Brennan Saulnier, Brett Stapley and Joe Vrbetic.
Also in the first cup are Pierrick Dubé, John Parker-Jones, Miguël Tourigny and William Trudeau, who do not have a contract with the Habs. They nevertheless received an invitation for the Rocket camp.
This means that there are 24 attackers, 11 defenders and four goaltenders with the Canadiens, excluding the six injured; Paul Byron, Joel Edmundson, Logan Mailloux, Sean Monahan, Nick Suzuki and Carey Price.
Training camp will continue Saturday night with a preseason game against the Senators in Ottawa.
