The Canadian made a minor trade this Wednesday morning by acquiring Quebec defender Nicolas Beaudin, from the Chicago Blachkawks, in return for forward Cam Hillis.

The two clubs thus exchange two players who no longer had a place in their organization. Beaudin, a first-round pick in 2018 (27e in total), has seen its star fade from year to year. In his fourth season in the professional ranks, he still played only 22 games in the NHL, spending most of his time in the American League.
He also played three games with the Rockford IceHogs this season. At the end of the Hawks’ training camp, he went on waivers, but was not claimed. He will report directly to the Laval Rocket.
Recognized as an offensive defenseman in the QMJHL – he played four seasons with the Drummondville Voltigeurs – Beaudin has not yet succeeded in transposing this facet of his game in the American League so far.
Cam Hillis, meanwhile, is in the third and final year of his NHL entry-level contract. However, he seems far from the big league, he who was transferred to the Lions of Trois-Rivières, in the ECHL, for the second consecutive year. Third-round pick (66e in total), also in 2018 he only played one game with the Canadiens, mainly due to the organization’s roster shortage at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the morning, the CH also sold defender Corey Schueneman to the Laval Rocket, and Joel Edmundson is still training, this Wednesday morning, with a jersey excluding him from contact.
Joel Armia is in the same situation as Edmundson. The two players, still on the injured list, will nevertheless follow their team on the road. Forward Juraj Slafkovsky, on the other hand, is back in full training after missing two games with an “upper body” injury.
